Riverside County Sheriff's Department Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Bikul

File # Multiple

Details:

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, serving the City of Perris, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) saturation patrol on March 11, 2022. During the operation, one DUI arrest was made, one felony arrest was made, one misdemeanor warrant arrest was made, twenty-three citations were issued for various vehicle code violations, one Field Sobriety Test was conducted, and two vehicles were towed. Deputies contacted and arrested thirty-two-year-old, City of Perris resident, Dagley Maurice Jr., for felony weapons charges and was booked into Robert Presley Detention Center. In addition, Deputies contacted and arrested twenty-two-year-old, City of Moreno Valley resident, Naidu Shalveen for Driving Under the Influence and was cited and released at the Perris station.

Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to be approximately $13,500. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses not to mention possible jail time. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Perris Station wants to remind drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” Prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, can impair and result in a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs. The Perris Station Deputies will be conducting another DUI saturation Patrol in the near future.

Funding for this DUI Saturation Patrol was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
