On March 17, 2021, from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Traffic Team conducted a pedestrian crosswalk operation at two intersections in the city of Moreno Valley. The first intersection was at John F. Kennedy Drive and Pepper Court and the second was at Eucalyptus Avenue and Running Deer Road. Both of these intersections have marked, uncontrolled crosswalks and are frequently used by students and pedestrians. This operation was in response to the high level of vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collisions throughout the city.
The goal of this operation was to educate drivers and to ultimately provide for the safety of all who utilize Moreno Valley roadways. At the conclusion of the operation, 60 citations had been issued for drivers failing to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk and 4 citations for driving without a valid driver’s license.
