Moreno Valley, Calif.-The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station, conducted a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) / Driver’s License checkpoint on Friday, March 25, 2022. The checkpoint was on Perris Boulevard, south of Bay Avenue, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The checkpoint yielded the following results:
- 570 cars screened
- 2 arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol
- 1 arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol
- 2 arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license
- 21 citations issued for driving without a driver’s license
- 1 citation for driving with an expired license
- 5 vehicles were stored or impounded
- 1 arrested for illegal drug possession
- 1 arrested for a felon in possession of a concealed loaded firearm
- 7 miscellaneous traffic-related citations issued

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department—Moreno Valley Station Holding DUI Checkpoint
Moreno Valley, Calif. – On March 25, 2022, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station, will conduct a driving under the influence (DUI) Checkpoint, from 10:00 P.M. to 3:00 A.M., at an undisclosed location.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off the road.
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Deputy Chris Loucks said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
The Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended license.
