[ARCHIVED] Two Arrested in Charter School Burglaries

Details:

On Sunday, May 22, 2022, and Monday, May 30, 2022, two separate school burglaries occurred at a Charter School property located in the 1400 Block N. A Street, in the city of Perris. Several classrooms were broken into and numerous iPads and laptops were stolen. The Perris Station’s Robbery/Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) assumed the investigation. During their investigation, they developed information on a possible location for the iPads and laptops. RBST conducted surveillance and confirmed the information. RBST along with Perris City Special Enforcement Team (SET) and the Perris Station County W4 Special Enforcement Team served two search warrants consecutively at two residences located in the 100 Block of Perou Street, in Perris. Two suspects, Ivan Martinez, a 24-year-old resident of Perris and Shawnathan Baylor, a 27-year-old resident of Perris were detained. Several items of evidentiary value were collected during the search and five (5) stolen iPads and laptops were recovered. Ivan Martinez and Shawnathan Baylor were arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center (RDC) for 459 PC – Burglary, 496 PC – Possession of Stolen Property, and 594(b)(1) PC – Vandalism. This investigation is on-going.
