On August 1, 2022, at 4:06 PM, Lake Elsinore deputies were dispatched to the lake area behind the 1400 block of lakeshore Drive, in the city of Lake Elsinore, reference a possible drowning. Deputies arrived on scene and witnessed two stalled personal watercrafts about forty yards from the beach. One of the riders, later identified as a 46-year-old adult male from Lakewood, CA, was unconscious and in the water. Deputies were able to utilize civilian owned watercrafts to approach the riders and retrieve the man from the water. Cal Fire personnel began performing life saving measures, however, their efforts were unsuccessful, and the victim was pronounced dead on scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office took possession of the victim, whose name is being withheld.
