Riverside County Sheriff's Department Press Release

Reporting Deputy:  Sergeant Javier Morando

File # JV222480017

Details:

On Monday, September 5, 2022, about 3:15 A.M., deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station responded to the report of a major injury collision at Hall Avenue north of El Rio Avenue in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies and Cal-Fire arrived on-scene and located a vehicle had struck a male pedestrian in the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and remained on scene. That driver cooperated with the investigation, completed an interview, and was released at the scene. The pedestrian was found to have major injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Jurupa Valley Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation indicated the driver was traveling southbound on Hall Avenue at or near the posted speed limit. The pedestrian, who was seated in a wheelchair, was also traveling southbound in the middle of the southbound lane, when he was struck by the vehicle. It remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision. Both directions of Hall Avenue between Bell Avenue and 26th Street were closed during the duration of the investigation. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending further investigation and the notification to the next of kin. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Klemme of the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station at 951-955-2600 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
