On April 6, 2022, about 5:00 AM, personnel from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a call of an unresponsive male adult in the 22000 block of Downing Street in the city of Moreno Valley. Upon deputies' arrival, it was determined an 18-year-old male was deceased. The case was immediately assumed by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit (ODIN), as it was determined the decedent, Juan Jose Villasenor (18), was a victim of a Fentanyl Poisoning. Over the next several months, the investigation was relentlessly worked and a suspect, Moisses Haro, a 21-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, was identified as being the suspect responsible for selling the Fentanyl that killed Villasenor.

On October 20th, 2022, ODIN personnel located Haro in the city of Anaheim and took him into custody without incident. Haro was later booked into the Robert Presely Detention Center for Murder. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Investigator Garcia-Flores at 951–955–1700.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics, many of which may contain Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm.
