On Thursday, November 17, 2022, about 5:10 AM, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Station responded to a major injury traffic collision on Mission Boulevard west of Caleb Street in the city of Jurupa Valley. Deputies and paramedics arrived on-scene to find a pedestrian laying in the street and a Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck pulled to the side of the roadway. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but the pedestrian was pronounced deceased. The driver of the truck remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Jurupa Valley Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the location and assumed the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Mission Boulevard and the pedestrian was standing within the roadway. The driver suddenly observed the pedestrian and swerved to avoid him, but struck him in the road. The pedestrian sustained major injuries from the crash, causing his death. Mission Boulevard between Caleb Street and Tyrolite Street was closed for the duration of the investigation.

The pedestrian was identified as William Deis, a 65-year-old resident of Wildomar. At this time, it remains unknown if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in the collision.
