On March 21, 2020, at 8:35 PM, La Quinta deputies responded to a domestic violence incident that occurred in the 60100 block of Angora Court, in the city of La Quinta. The investigation revealed the suspect, Marco Collins, 55-years-old of La Quinta assaulted the victim during an argument. The victim fled the residence and ran to a neighboring residence to call 911. The victim was treated for injuries sustained during the assault on-scene by medics. An Emergency Protective Order was authored and granted. Deputies were unable to take Collins into custody, so the investigation continued.
On March 23, 2020, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team assumed the investigation and took Collins into custody without incident. During the arrest, a loaded un-registered handgun was located in Collin’s vehicle. During a search of the residence an un-registered assault rifle was also located. The Emergency Protective Order was served, and Collins was booked at the Riverside County Jail.
