On January 23, 2020, at 9:18 AM, deputies assigned to the city of Menifee were dispatched to a report of mail theft on the 28000 block of Encanto Drive. When deputies arrived, they were provided with a witness description of a male and female suspect who were seen leaving in a white sedan. The witness also provided a license plate number for the sedan which returned to an address on the 26000 block of Evans Road, Menifee. Deputies arrived at the residence on Evans Road and contacted a male and female matching the descriptions provided. At the residence, deputies also discovered hundreds of pieces of stolen mail that were collected as evidence. Based on their investigation, 36-year-old Joelene Hogan and 48-year-old Jerry Battoe, both of Menifee were arrested for mail theft.
