During the year of 2019, the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station (Problem Oriented Policing Team), City of Lake Elsinore, along with the assistance of Social Workers Action Group (SWAG), a non-profit agency, worked together to end the cycle of homelessness through our homeless outreach program.  Below is the years final outreach information for the city of Lake Elsinore.

  • The team engaged with homeless individuals 1,568 times.
  • 73 individuals exited the streets.
  • 14 individuals were reunited with family.
  • 43 individuals were placed into temporary / transitional housing.
  • 10 individuals were placed into permanent housing.
  • 6 individuals were placed into long term substance abuse centers / housing.
  • 14 Veterans were received assistance.
  • 152 individuals accepted and received mental health services.
  • 20 individuals chose to return to the streets after accepting housing.
  • 278 individuals declined to answer outreach questions or listen to the available resources.
  • The team collected over 230 tons (460,000 pounds) of debris created by the homeless population.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station takes great pride in reaching out to individuals and assisting them with ending their cycle of homelessness.  These individuals have the opportunity to receive additional services to assist them with permanent housing, substance abuse education, financial education and job placement.  We wish them the best of luck as they traverse the path toward improving their lives.

As a reminder, "Community Policing" involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members.  Business owners and residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff’s Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency.
