On January 19, 2020, the Lake Elsinore Station was contacted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Rico was found by deputies from the Lancaster station on January 18, 2020, at 6:00 PM. Mr. Rico was found in good health and did not require any medical attention. Arrangement are being made to be reunited with his family.   


On January 18, 2020, we received a report of an at-risk missing person, last seen in the 22000 block of Ash Street, located in the area of Temescal Valley. The investigation revealed Benjamin Rico, 90 years-old, voluntarily left his residence on January 18, 2020, about 09:30 a.m. Mr. Rico was last seen driving a gray, 2006 Toyota 4-Runner with a California license plate #5SNN388.

Mr. Rico is described as a Hispanic male, six feet tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, grey hair and brown eyes. Mr. Rico was last seen wearing a dark colored baseball hat, a blue sweatshirt, and a pair of brown pants. Mr. Rico’s family has reported that he suffers from dementia. 

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s ground units were used to search for Mr. Rico, but he was not located. The search is continuing. The California Highway Patrol was contacted, and a Silver Alert was activated. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Rico or his vehicle is urged to call the Lake Elsinore Station at 951-245-3000, or the Riverside Sheriff’s Dispatch at 951-776-1099.
