On January 21, 2020, at 12:10 PM, La Quinta patrol deputies responded to a report of trespassing in the 54400 block of Avenida Rubio. A neighbor stated she heard glass break at a residence and saw three Hispanic male juveniles in a backyard. It was reported that the suspects were last seen running towards Calle Temecula. La Quinta Patrol deputies quickly saturated the area and contacted three subjects on Avenida Vallejo and Calle Potrero who matched the description of the suspects. A 16-year-old juvenile from Indio was arrested for a no bail grand theft warrant, an additional 16-year-old juvenile from Indio was arrested for violation of probation, and a 15-year-old juvenile from Indio was booked for possession of brass knuckles. During the arrest, watches that were believed to be stolen were collected for safekeeping by the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team.
At 3:40 PM, La Quinta Patrol deputies responded to a past burglary in the 54400 block of Avenida Alvarado, in the city of La Quinta. During the investigation it was determined watches, along with other property was stolen. The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team responded and determined the watches located on the juveniles belonged to the victims. Additional charges of residential burglary were added, and a gang enhancement is being sought.
