Jared Lee Zesk

During this investigation, an additional suspect was identified in the murder of Massai Cole.  18-year-old Jared Lee Zesk, a Riverside resident, was located and arrested. Jared Zesk was booked into custody for homicide.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is still seeking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Central Homicide Investigator Trudeau at (951) 955-2777.

On Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 2:08 AM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Station responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 16500 Block of Century Street in Moreno Valley.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found a male suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. Once paramedics arrived on scene, life-saving measures were continued. The victim, however, died as a result of his injuries. The victim was identified as 18-year-old Inglewood resident, Massai Cole. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. 

The investigation revealed 18-year-old Darren Peter Zesk, a Menifee resident, was responsible for Cole’s death.  As a result, Darren Zesk was arrested and booked into custody for homicide.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details are currently available. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department encourages anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Central Homicide Investigator Trudeau at (951) 955-2777.
