On February 26, 2020, at 1:55 PM, Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned to the city of Coachella responded to a suspicious circumstance in the area of 7th Street x Tripoli Way. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted four subjects identified as Cruz Cruz (age 29), Mariano Lopez (age 28), and Salvador Chavez (age 53), all from Coachella. While attempting to arrest Cruz Cruz, he resisted deputies and was taken into custody without further incident. Cruz Cruz was arrested and booked into the Indio Jail for possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest, and probation violation. Marino Lopez and Salvador Chavez were arrested for minor drug violations but released on a citation. The fourth subject was released at the scene with no charges filed against him.
