On March 4, 2020, about 10:24 AM, deputies responded to the 86500 block of Avenue 50, within the city of Coachella reference an assault with a firearm and criminal threats. Based on the circumstances a search warrant was authored and Riverside County Sheriff’s Department S.W.A.T. responded. The suspect, Alejandro Contreras, 28 of Coachella, was located hiding on the property and was taken into custody without incident. A search of the property yielded 24 firearms, high capacity magazines and thousands of rounds of ammunition. Contreras was booked at the jail for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats.
