Deputy Brett Harris 

On Friday, May 12, 2023, Deputy Brett Harris was involved in a tragic on-duty traffic collision and suffered major injuries, including a catastrophic brain injury. Deputy Harris succumbed to his injuries Saturday, May 13, 2023.  He was 27 years old at the time of his death.

Brett Harris began his service with our Department on July 2, 2019. After graduating from the 208th Basic Academy, Deputy Harris was assigned to the Cois Byrd Detention Center before transferring to the Hemet Station in January of 2022.

Brett loved the career he chose and had such admiration for the people he served next to everyday. He had made many plans for his future in law enforcement.

Brett’s death was too soon for all who loved him, but with his death came so many second chances for others. In a final act of Service Above Self, Brett’s noble decision to become an organ donor saved the lives of his multiple organ transplant recipients.

Deputy Brett Harris is survived by his wife, mother, father, sister and brother.
