Details:
On July 20, 2021, at 4:53 P.M., deputies assigned to the city of Coachella responded to the area of Calhoun Street and El Mar regarding a robbery at gunpoint. Deputies learned the victims were held at gunpoint while they were robbed of their belongings. The Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT) assumed the investigation and with assistance of the Thermal Station Investigation Bureau identified one of the suspects. As a result, CCAT with the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team (SET), and the Indio Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU), served a search warrant at a residence in the 83-400 block of Calle Colima in the city of Coachella.
Located and seized during the search warrant service were three 9mm non-serialized handguns, stolen property, marijuana and marijuana sales indicia. Documented gang member and convicted felon David Soriano, 25 of Coachella, was arrested for robbery, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a non-serialized handgun, and possession of marijuana for the purpose of sales. Mario Perez, 20 of Palm Springs, was arrested for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a non-serialized handgun, and a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) Parole hold. Armando Villa, 23 of Indio, was arrested for providing a false name to a Peace Officer. All three suspects were booked at John Benoit Detention Center in the city of Indio.
