Riverside County Sheriff-Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Lieutenant Steve DaSilva

File # SW231430020

Details:

On May 23, 2023, a Southwest Station School Resource Deputy began an investigation into a possible kidnapping that occurred in the 38000 block of Camarada Lane, in unincorporated Murrieta, after he received information that a video of the incident was posted to social media. The video depicted an unknown male subject walking on the sidewalk of a residential area, stopping in front of a driveway, then running up the driveway towards a child.

Deputies responded to the location and spoke to the involved parties. Initial investigation determined the event occurred on May 21, 2023, at about 8:30 p.m. A father and his 10 year-old child were playing in front of the residence. The father went inside the residence to use the restroom while the child remained outside in the driveway. Shortly after, an unknown male ran up the driveway toward the child, who fled into the residence and told the father about the male. The male did not touch or harm the child, and he quickly left the area.

On May 25, 2023, numerous deputies and investigators from the Southwest Station responded back to the location and conducted another extensive neighborhood canvass. Deputies were able to locate the male, a 16 year-old juvenile who lives in the area. Follow-up investigation determined the male did not attempt to kidnap or harm the child. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact Sergeant Joseph Narciso or Investigator Wesley Martinelli of the Southwest Station Investigation Bureau at (951) 696-3000.
