On Monday, October 23, 2023, at 2:31 a.m., Thermal Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Avenida Bermudas and Calle Tecate in the city of La Quinta. When patrol deputies arrived, they located a green 2014 Kawasaki Motorcycle on the sidewalk. The rider was found unresponsive nearby, and deputies attempted life saving measures. American Medical Response arrived and pronounced the rider deceased at the scene.
The Thermal Sheriff’s Station’s La Quinta Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the Kawasaki Motorcycle was traveling southbound on Avenida Bermudas when it failed to make the turn from southbound Avenida Bermudas onto westbound Calle Tecate and struck the curb, ejecting the rider. Currently, it is unknown if intoxication played a part in this collision.
The identity of the deceased rider will not be released, pending notification of the next of kin. This is an ongoing investigation, and no further details are available.
