On December 13, 2023, at 1:06 a.m., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Southwest Station, responded to the intersection of Winchester Road and Margarita Road in the city of Temecula regarding a single vehicle traffic collision. Deputies arrived on scene and located the driver of a 2014 Toyota Yaris inside and unresponsive. Medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the driver deceased.
The Southwest Station Traffic Team responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings revealed the Toyota was traveling southbound on Winchester Road at a high rate of speed and struck the center median just west of Margarita Road. This investigation is ongoing and the role of alcohol and or drugs has not been determined.
A temporary road closure of Winchester Road just west of Margarita Road was necessary to process the scene and collect evidence. The identity of the deceased will not be released pending notification to the next of kin.
