Details:

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department- La Quinta Station will be out in force on New Year's Eve and would like to remind residents that "celebratory" gunfire is considered illegal discharge of a firearm and can be dangerous. Discharging a firearm for celebratory purposes could result in injury or death to anyone struck, and jail time for the offenders. Residents are strongly encouraged to report gunfire along with any other suspicious or criminal activity they see occurring. Callers should provide an exact location and physical description of suspect(s) and/or vehicle(s), along with license plate information, if it can be obtained safely.

Additionally, the La Quinta Traffic Team will be conducting DUI saturations patrols throughout the city. The goal of the saturation patrol is to reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department-La Quinta Station wants to remind drivers that “DUI Doesn’t Just Mean Booze.” Prescription drugs, particularly those with a driving or operating machinery warning on the label, can impair and result in a DUI. Marijuana can also be impairing, especially in combination with alcohol or other drugs. Drivers caught driving impaired and charged with DUI can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to be approximately $13,500. This includes fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses not to mention possible jail time.

Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff's CrimeTips online form.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is seeking applicants for Deputy Sheriff, Deputy Sheriff Trainee, Correctional Deputy, Sheriff's 911 Communications Officer, and other employment opportunities such as clerical and support positions.  If you are interested in a career with us, please apply at www.joinrsd.org or call 1-888-Join-RSD
