On Monday, January 06, 2020, the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team conducted a pedestrian check at the corner of Costco Drive and Highway 111 city of La Quinta. They contacted Julio Hoyas, 47-years-old of Desert Hot Springs. During a record check, the team discovered Hoyas had not properly registered as a sexual offender and was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest bottles of alcohol were discovered. A follow-up investigation was conducted. The team discovered Hoyas had stolen the bottles of alcohol from a nearby business. Hoyas was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
The La Quinta Special Enforcement Team conducts sexual offender compliance checks on a regular basis. Anyone with questions about the sexual offender registration process are encouraged to call Investigator Tijerina at the Thermal Station (760) 863-8990.
