On Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 2:06 PM, deputies received several calls from hikers stranded in the area of Box Canyon and Painted Canyon. Deputies responded to Box Canyon and found the area flooded and impassible. CHP H60 responded to the area to assist. Nine hikers and two dogs were rescued from the flooding. None of the rescued hikers or first responders were injured or required medical treatment.
