Marijuana-Rifle-Drug ParaphernaliaOn August 26, 2021, at 12:09 P.M., deputies assigned to the Coachella Community Action Team (CCAT), and the Southern Coachella Valley Community Service District Team (SCVCSDT), served an arrest warrant in the 65-900 block of Harrison Street in the unincorporated area of Thermal. Ezequiel Nava, 46 of Thermal, was arrested for three felony warrants for illegal possession of firearms. During a search of Ezequiel’s vehicle, a loaded California non-compliant AK-47 rifle was located and seized. Ezequiel was booked at the John Benoit Detention Center (JBDC) in the city of Indio for his felony warrants and new charges of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of a ammunition, possession of a short barreled rifle, and possession of a California non-compliant rifle.

On August 27, 2021, at 8:00 A.M., members of CCAT and SCVCSDT served a search warrant at Ezequiel’s residence located in the 65-100 block of Van Buren Street in the unincorporated area of Thermal. During the search warrant service, methamphetamine, Fentanyl, approximately 26 pounds of processed cannabis, and narcotic sales indicia was located and seized. Rafael Nava, 49 of Thermal, was arrested for possession of narcotics for sale. Rafael was booked at JBDC.
