Reserve Deputy Sheriff - Level III

Description

Level III Reserve deputies are deployed and assigned only to carry out limited duties not requiring general law enforcement powers. Duties may include, traffic enforcement, prisoner transport, crime prevention duties and other duties at the direction of the Sheriff.

Training Requirements

A 12-week, 162-hour academy that is a discipline and stress-oriented program with an emphasis on professionalism, ethics and leadership, vehicle operations, arrest and control, baton, firearms, and chemical agents. In addition, there are inspections, training in formation, physical exercises (running, push-ups, sit-ups, jumping jacks, etc.) and facing movements with marching.

Reserve Level III applicants must attend a background orientation. Applicants in this category are not required to participate in the physical agility test.

Students attend the academy in full uniform and are required to purchase their own physical training gear along with other miscellaneous supplies.
