In January of 2023, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station Special Enforcement Team - Gang Unit, began investigating a bank fraud ring operating within the city of Moreno Valley. During the investigation deputies identified the following suspects as being involved: Jordyn Botello (21yrs), Peter Botello (20yrs) residents of Ontario; Jairo Contreras (20yrs), Ryan Cortez (19yrs), Christian Cortez-Ruvalcaba (22yrs), and Daniel Molina (19yrs) residents of Moreno Valley. During the investigation it was also determined these suspects were in possession of illegal firearms.

Based on the information obtained during the investigation, search warrants were written for their residences in the city of Moreno Valley and the city of Ontario. Deputies from the Gang Task Force, Southwest Station, San Jacinto Station, and Riverside County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau served these warrants on February 24, 2023.

At the conclusion of the search warrants, deputies located 4 rifles, 4 handguns, several rounds of live ammunition for rifles and handguns, 11 grams of cocaine, over 100 M-30 pills (Fentanyl), over one pound of marijuana, digital scales, and packaging. Additionally, deputies located several blank checks, several blank debit cards, used bank cards and receipts as well as over forty thousand dollars in U.S. currency. Also located were ten stolen CPC modules, which are used to operate big rig trucks.

The suspects were subsequently taken into custody and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for various charges including fraud, weapons violations and controlled substance violations.
