On February 27, 2023, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) became aware of a post on social media depicting a subject stealing a package from a front porch of a residence in Moreno Valley. RBST immediately began investigating the incident and determined the theft occurred at a residence in the 27000 block of Solitude Ave., Moreno Valley. RBST identified the suspect responsible for the theft as Gilbert Hernandez, a 43-year-old resident of Moreno Valley.
On March 1, 2023, RBST located Hernandez in the area of Alessandro Blvd. and Perris Blvd., Moreno Valley, where he was taken into custody without incident. Also arrested was Esnelia Zapata, a 41-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, who was wanted in connection with an ongoing fraud and theft investigation.
Hernandez was later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for theft, violation of parole, and possession of a controlled substance. Zapata was booked for theft, fraud, and a violation of probation.
