[ARCHIVED] Catalytic Converter Thieves Arrested in Stolen Vehicle

Details:

On March 7, 2023, an additional catalytic converter theft was reported in the parking lot of a business in the 27000 block of Eucalyptus Avenue. RBST responded and learned the same vehicle and suspects were involved in both incidents.

On March 8, 2023, RBST located the vehicle and suspects of the thefts in the area of Market Street and Ninth Street, Riverside, where they were taken into custody without incident. Evidence related to both incidents was located inside the vehicle. It was later discovered the vehicle used by the suspects was reported stolen from the city of Perris on December 22, 2022. The suspects were identified as 57-year-old Alfredo Castellanos Mendoza and 22-years old Marcos Aguilar, both residents of Perris.

Castellanos Mendoza was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for possession of a stolen vehicle, attempted grand theft, violation of his Post Release Community Supervision Terms, and conspiracy. Aguilar was booked for attempted grand theft, conspiracy, and outstanding arrest warrants.
