Vector Star 80 x93

Riverside County Sheriff-Press Release

Reporting Deputy: Sergeant Kamal Kabbara

File # PE231060041, PE231060058 and PE231060065

Details:

On Sunday, April 16, 2023, between the hours of 10:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., deputies assigned to the city of Perris Special Enforcement Team with the assistance of the city traffic bureau conducted an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Enforcement Operation in the neighborhoods of Chaparral Ridge, Monument Ranch and Monument Park within the city. During the operation, deputies utilized the city OHV and contacted several riders who were riding in the hills. During their contacts, deputies educated the riders about illegal off-roading and provided them with information for areas designated for legal use of OHV. Additionally during the operation, deputies contacted three adults and one juvenile who were riding their OHVs illegally on a public street. The riders were cited and their OHVs were towed for violating the California Vehicle Code.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office and the city of Perris are dedicated to the safety of everyone including community members driving on the city streets. Additionally, we would like to remind our community members that operating an OHV on public street is not only illegal but it can also be dangerous. Please visit fs.usda.gov or ohv.parks.ca.gov for legal off-road locations and safety equipment requirement.

For additional information regarding OHV, please contact the Perris Sheriff’s Station at 951-210-1000.

For media inquiries regarding this incident please contact the Media Information Bureau.
