On June 15, 2023, at 7:52 p.m., deputies assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station responded to a vehicle collision involving a bicyclist at the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street. Deputies arrived and located the bicyclist on the ground with major injuries. There were no reported injuries to the occupants of the vehicle. Cal Fire arrived and immediately administered first aid. The bicyclist was transported to a local area hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The Moreno Valley Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the collision. A preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist was traveling east on Iris Avenue and made a left turn towards northbound Lasselle Street, crossing the intersection through a red light, causing a collision with a vehicle. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision. This is an ongoing investigation, and no additional details are available at this time.
