On Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 3:52 a.m., deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station, responded to the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Gentian Avenue reference a single vehicle traffic collision. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2019 Dodge Challenger engulfed in flames. Deputies also located the driver, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed the Dodge Challenger was traveling at a high rate of speed when it lost control and collided with a traffic signal pole.
The identity of the deceased will not be released pending notification to the next of kin. A temporary road closure of Perris Boulevard between Filaree Avenue and Santiago Drive was required to process the scene and collect evidence.
