Lake Elsinore – The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office cited 20 individuals for municipal code violations during ABC’s statewide Cinco De Mayo Holiday Enforcement operation on May 5, 2024, at various locations in the city of Lake Elsinore. This enforcement operation is designed to create awareness about the dangers of drinking in public throughout California and keep communities safe.
Holiday Enforcement operations are intended to create awareness about alcohol-related violations, including open containers in a public place not designated for alcohol consumption.
“This operation is important to the city of Lake Elsinore to increase protection for youth and to hold accountable problem locations that contribute to an increase in crime,” said Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Captain J. Rayls.
The goal of the operation is to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors and reduce alcohol-related crime through multiple enforcement, educational, and prevention programs conducted by local law enforcement officers. Funding for operations such as Minor Decoy, IMPACTS, Holiday Enforcement and Shoulder Tap is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
ABC protects communities through education, prevention, and enforcement programs designed to increase compliance with California’s alcoholic beverage laws.
ABC encourages licensees to sign up for ABC’s Licensee Education on Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) training free of charge. Licensees and their employees can now take the training online. They can also sign up for training in person in a classroom setting.
