In an ongoing effort to reduce serious injury/fatal traffic collisions, the Wildomar Traffic Team conducted an enforcement operation on January 15, 2019 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The focus of the enforcement was on collision-causing factors at various area within the City of Wildomar. Special patrols were deployed to crack down on drivers who violate traffic laws meant to protect all roadway users.
The department has mapped out locations from past years where serious injury/fatal traffic collisions have occurred. Also noted were the violations that led to those crashes, to include red light, stop sign and speeding violations.
Traffic fatalities are rising in California. Locally, the Wildomar Traffic Team investigated 12 fatal collisions during the past three (3) years. California witnessed 3,651 traffic deaths in 2018.
This morning’s enforcement operation generated the following results:
- 59 drivers were cited for hazardous moving violations
- 1 driver was cited for licensing violations
- 0 vehicles were impounded
- 5 other citations were issued for various violations
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
