Station Area:Special Investigations Bureau
Written Date:January 21, 2020Time:11:56 AM
Incident Date:January 20, 2020Time:6:21 PM
Incident Location:34000 Block of White Street, Wildomar
Reporting Officer:Sergeant Michael Yarbrough
File Number(s):R200200007

On Monday, January 20, 2020 deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, along with CalFire, responded to an explosion at a residence in the 34000 block of White Street in Wildomar. Upon arrival, deputies located a travel trailer fully engulfed in flames. Witnesses reported seeing a subject flee the scene shortly after the explosion. The subject was later located at a local hospital receiving treatment for burn injuries.

Further investigation revealed the explosion was caused by a butane honey oil (BHO) lab at the location. BHO is a form of concentrated cannabis extract using volatile solvents such as butane. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) was notified and responded to the scene. A search warrant was authored, and the scene was processed by specially trained members of MET. Several evidentiary items were recovered from the scene, including BHO lab equipment, cannabis, and finished BHO.

This investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Investigator De La Torre at 951-955-1700.

The goal of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is to keep all of our citizens safe while also improving the quality of life for those residing within the community.  The extraction of BHO poses great risk to those involved in the process, as well as neighboring residents.  The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department has a zero-tolerance policy for these offenses.  If you suspect drug activity in your area, please contact your local Sheriff’s Station.

Citizens may also submit a tip using the Sheriff’s CrimeTips online form.
