On January 24, 2020, personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Moreno Valley Station Problem Oriented Policing Team, served a marijuana cultivation search warrant in the 15800 Block of Camino Real. During the service of the search warrant, 925 plants in various stages of growth were collected for a total of approximately 600 pounds. In addition, the electrical system within the residence was illegally altered, causing a severe fire hazard. Southern California Edison employees responded to the location and rendered the hazard safe. Southern California Edison valued the total theft of utilities to be in excess of $25,000.

Two suspects were arrested for marijuana cultivation and theft of utilities:

  • 38-year-old Baldwin Park resident Weilong Mai 
  • 46-year-old Baldwin Park resident Liqiang Hu

At the direction of Sheriff Chad Bianco, the goal of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is to improve the quality of life for those residing within the community.  “Community Policing” involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members.
